The Bold Barcheek

Coral Trout Plectropomus maculatus
It's hard to understand that the Coral Trout is an ambush predator when you look at this colourful fish dominating the blue. But when you see him hunting on the bottom he will be sitting on top of staghorn coral, his bright orange will fade to a dull grey at depth, and the blue dots will camouflage perfectly with the coral polyps. Taken at Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia.
